Assembly Deep Sea Angling Club

About Us

The Assembly Deep Sea Angling Club was established in 1987 in Pretoria.

 

The Club has grown and is now well recognized within the deep sea angling community.

 

The Club is a voluntary association and is open to any person who wishes to join.

 

Meetings are held on monthly basis.

 

The club is a Member of Northern Deep Sea Angling Association and affiliated to the South African Deep Sea Angling Association (SADSAA).

 

The Club ascribes to rules as laid down by SADAA as well as IGFA.

The Club is founded on the following basis:

 

That game fish or bottom fish is any defined species of marine fish held in high esteem and sought after because of its lighting and sporting characteristics when caught on rod and reel from a craft at sea;

 

That game fish and bottom fish species, their related food fish and their respective habitats are economic, social, recreational and aesthetic assets which must be maintained, wisely used and perpetuated.

 

 

That the sport of deep sea angling is an important recreational and social activity which must be encouraged and promoted and that the public must be educated to pursue it in a manner consistent with sound sporting and conservational International Game Fish Association (hereinafter referred to as "IGFA") and/or other internationally accepted rules and regulations;

 

 

That the sport of game fish and bottom fish angling is a deliberate and intentional act of angling in accordance with internationally accepted ethics, rules and regulations according to the most sporting methods and in the spirit of angling in general;

 

 

That the spirit of the sport of angling is that the skill of the angler is pitted against the instinct, strength an behaviour of the fish in such a way that the fish stands an even chance for its life.
